Fiber Glass Reinforced Plastic is a fiber reinforced polymer made of a plastic matrix reinforced by fine fibers of glass. Fiberglass is a lightweight, extremely strong, and robust material. Although strength properties are somewhat lower than carbon fiber and it is less stiff, the material is typically far less brittle. Its bulk strength and weight properties are also very favorable when compared to metals, and it can be easily formed using molding processes.
ADVANTAGES OF FIBER GLASS
Infinite potential: Almost anything you can think of can be made from fiberglass. With all the fabulous features noted below, maybe you can think of something we have not. Please feel welcome to come to us with your ideas and we'd be happy to discuss them.
Low weight: Even the cheapest fiberglass is much less dense and therefore lighter than the equivalent volume of steel or aluminum.
Mechanical strength: fiberglass is so strong and stiff for its weight, it can out-perform most other materials including steel, aluminum and timber. Carbon-fiber and Kevlar can be used to make items even lighter. The strength and stiffness per weight of these exotic materials
exceeds that of all known materials.
